Chiropractic for Babies and Children

Gentle chiropractic care for babies and children to ensure the nervous system is working efficiently and effectively.

Babies and children tend to respond very well to Chiropractic care for babies and children, which is safe for all ages and stages in their development. This includes premature babies, and babies and children with specific or special needs, and learning difficulties. The youngest baby we have seen was just 2 days old!

Jane McKenzie-Riley (Senior Chiropractor), Ruth Corker and Claire Laidler have all undertaken additional post-graduate neonatal and paediatric training in addition to their chiropractic qualification, and see babies and children of all ages.

When working with your baby or child, we are always happy to work as part of a team approach with other health care professionals, like your Midwife, Health Visitor,  Lactation Consultant, GP or Occupational Therapist or Speech Therapist etc.

Unsure if chiropractic care could help your baby or child?

Jane, Ruth or Claire are always happy to offer a free mini-assessment (also known as a free spine check), to establish whether chiropractic care could be suitable and appropriate for your baby or child.

The first Consultation

As always, it is important that your Chiropractor ensures it is safe and appropriate for your baby or toddler to receive chiropractic treatment, and if necessary will suggest you discuss the problem with your child’s GP or Health Visitor etc.

Your Chiropractor will take a full case history regarding your child’s general health background as well as details of their symptoms, and will then thoroughly physically examine and assess your child, using standard neurological testing, including retained reflexes if appropriate. The Chiropractor will then discuss their findings with you, and after obtaining your consent (and that of your child if appropriate to their age) will then treat your child.

We know that usually, most children recover quickly from recent injuries/problems, but if the child has had the problem for some time they may take longer to fully recover, and some children appear to benefit from regular check-up as they grow, to help your child’s growing body maintain a healthy balance.
